Tragic
Yesterday, as the Oktoberfest was opening, snow storms hit the Alps. A 24 year old from Northern Germany went out on a climbing tour near Berchtesgaden. He fell but was able to contact rescue service by phone but there was no chance of sending a helicopter. By the time the mountain rescue teams could climb up to the area, contact was lost and the person could not be found. It wasn't until a month later, after snow had melted that an Austrian police helicopter, which by chance flew over the area, spotted the body.
Various different parts of the Alps today - the German Chiemgauer Alps where the accident happened, are just out of view from us.
