I am awake

Received the pictured 2022 poetry collection, for my Birthday, a few days ago - here's a favourite from within:

Dawn Song

In my half-waking
I scoop up the essence of this sunrise,

marvel at the molten-ness
cupped in my grateful hands,
gold glint flowing from
palm to palm.

My heart becomes this dawn held gently,
watch it beat with all its love blood.

I stroke it softly
and own the birdsong.
Let's dance to the con gusto collage that
dresses the air ready for a new day.

Swelling with love I put back my heart,
glad to have made its acquaintance.

I am awake.
The air breathes and builds expectantly, all
feather and fugue,
sound of ululating light.
