Sun on St Stephens
Went to swim at Glenogle, and found sunshine on St Stephens. It was advertising for the last day of the run of The Nutcracker in a newly developed theatre named after Ian McKellen.
Met an enthusiastic cat on Saxe Coburg Place who rushed along the pavement for stroking as though it owned me.
Afternoon walk down to Stockbridge by Raeburn Place and Fettes Avenue to check on the swans. All present and preening. Substantial ice still on the pond, where the gulls preferred to stand on it rather than swim. Back by the Botanic Garden and Dundas Street.
