Some kind of Moss?

I'm doubtful that is is a lichen. The extra is a further crop of the same image at 100%.
This has grown on the top of a nice piece of sandstone in the garden.
The moss or whatever it may be is about 3cm in dia.
I managed to grab this as the rain arrived, illuminated with  an LED torch.
