jpr day
Suday mornings can usually find ke volunteering at a junior parkrun. Usually Bankton Mains but occasionally at Cotlands in Fife. Today I stayed local at Bankton, where I was marshal / photographer. Our tail walkers were in particular happy moods this morning!
I popped over to Bathgate afterwards to feed the Foreveryoungs cat, as they’re away on holiday.
Was settling down to a relaxing afternoon at home when Ethan, who was out with his pals, phoned me about an injured bird they had found on the path near the station. I drove up there, taking the cat basket with me in case I needed to put it in there. Poor wee thing was lying on the ground in a big pile of wet leaves, alive bit breathing very strangely. I phoned the SSPCA who said not to touch it but they’d get to be of their wardens to phone me. Half an hour later they still hasn’t phoned and by now it’s pouring with rain and starting to get dark. I chased them up and eventually got a call back … to say she was stuck in East Lothian and could be a few hours! I didn’t want to leave it where it was cos there is no way she would find it. So she agreed I should take it home and she would come to mine when she could. When she eventually got to me, she took one look at it, shook her head and said “it has a heck tilt. I didn’t expect to see that. There isn’t anything we can do”. And took it away. Very sad but st least we tried to save it.
