A Different Request
Ellie was determined to go to a cemetery today; I don't know what made her aware of death and a place where people are buried, but she was adamant that she wanted to walk through a cemetery and read the names.
I took her to the local cemetery where my mother-in-law is buried. Ellie was glad we easily found her headstone where she placed a bouquet of flowers, greens, and berries we picked in my garden. She said, "I don't feel her here." We talked about how the body is buried and the spirit may live on, but we might not know or feel that spirit. She was very serious about her visit to the graves around her great-great grandmother's grave. I have never had a child like Ellie before; she is delightful.
