Frozen canal, Bourneville
Noticed the degree of coldness on alighting from the West Midlands Railways train at Bourneville Station, to walk to Cadbury World. Despite being a bit nippy, it was worth taking the gloves off to record the bright, cold day and icy canal!
Built between 1792 and 1815, the Worcester and Birmingham Canal is 29 miles long. Initially used by Nettlefold and Chamberlain, which became GKN (the auto parts group), Cadbury arrived here in 1879 and – as they say – the rest is history! The emblematic company became a major user of this waterway.
