Oyster Shells
I've got a 2nd fish market in Florida that lets me take the oyster and clam shells out of their back driveway. The workers shuck them, and then toss them into the drive.
It's a nasty job to clean them. I boil them, strip off the "parts" that are still attached, and then soak them in bleach. They don't accept paint real well, so I have to put 2-3 coats of each color on.
Among the several types of fish are sheepshead, hogfish, mahi-mahi, and redfish.
I plan on taking them with me to Florida next month and give them to the owner of the market. Perhaps he can give them out to the kiddies when they come in with their parents.
