A tough day
Forecast was for overcast with some gusty winds. Not wanting to go too far we headed for Stonethwaite and "walked" Eagle Crag and Sergeants Crag, then up to White Stones and back along the valley. It's about 8 miles and around 2500 feet of height gain, but much of it was boggy, some areas undercut by frost, so the paths collapsed as you put your foot down, there were still areas of ice and climbing up the very steel scramble to the top of Eagle Crag the wind was considerably more than "gusty" - in fact we had a constant high wind all day.
The photo is from the scramble up Eagle Crag, looking across to Sergeants Crag, with the rain coming down the valley to add to the challenge!
Both of us were totally knackered when we got home.
