Solstice
Our decorations are up, finally.
We went out into the garden in the midwinter sunshine and pruned some branches from the quince tree. It's in need of a good haircut this winter anyway, so this has been the first step (or snip). Arranged in a tall earthernware crock, the twisty cuttings make a fine little 'tree'.
This golden heart was given to us some years ago by a Danish friend. Richard and I both love getting the boxes of decorations out; some date back to when his children and mine were tiny, others are recent gifts.
All come with memories.
As I write this, I've just been watching the video of Zelensky's arrival at the White House. There was so much emotion, on all three faces, in those few minutes before they turned to go inside.
