Drife’s Drive Through!
We going to visit a few friends on our way home but as Frank is still not well and coughing like crazy we decided it was best not to pass on his germs. However as we drove by our friend’s house we saw him chatting to someone on the pavement. Frank stopped just to wave but Davie said to park in his driveway and he would bring us some soup.
Well, what a lovely lunch he rustled up. He had made Dahl soup, and toast, there were also oatcakes and hummus crisps. Then tea and a mince pie.
Then he played Christmas carol tunes on his mouthie!
Shortly after, his wife Liz arrived home from work and we had a natter while they stood out in the rain! An unexpected get together but so lovely to see them.
After our distanced chat and goodbyes we set off on the last leg of our journey. We had left Sabrina’s at 10am and we arrived home at 4.30pm.
On our way home the sun was like an enormous orange and it disappeared quickly.
The shortest day of the year today.

Winter Solstice
The shortest day of the year
started a gloomy, wet day,
with a keen and icy wind,
I wished I was under the duvet.
But we had to drive from north of
the border, to the south of it,
a long journey, five hours or more
So we stopped at Tebay for a bit.
The further south we drove,
the drier the weather became,
the sun broke through the clouds,
a gigantic orange, all aflame.
Soon darkness had descended and
the towns and villages we passed
were all lit up with fairy lights,
we were nearing home at last.
Now the Winter solstice is over
and as the stars shine brightly,
we look towards Christmas Day
which will be longer - very slightly.
I can’t wait to get under the duvet!
Goodnight ;-)X
