Remembering Cindy

This is the 34th anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 which crashed in Lockerbie, Scotland.  There were 35 Syracuse University students aboard that flight returning from a semester abroad.  One of them was Cynthia Smith a student of mine when I was teaching high school.  This is a drawing done of her by a fellow art student at Syracuse in remembrance.  She was a lovely young woman and a talented artist.  Her parents were able to bring her body back for burial and it was one of the saddest funerals I ever attended.  This month we learned that the Libyan man accused of making the bomb was extradited to the US to finally stand trial for that horrendous act.  It took 34 years but the US never gave up on finding justice for Cindy and all those who lost their lives that day.
