Flowers

I noticed these flowers where we were staying. I have never seen anything like them before and was intrigued with the parallel nature of the blooms and the bright colors. These appeared to have been planted and there is another string of them behind the set pictured. I am curious about what kind of flower this is. Does anyone have any idea?

As mentioned previously, I think that this plant is gorgeous and did my best to capture it with my 100mm macro lens. This shot was handheld and fortunately these were in direct sunlight so shutter speed was not a problem.
