Damp squib …
I had to go into town today. It suddenly was incredibly mild. Just as well as the bus I was waiting for had been cancelled! That happens fairly frequently. There was an excellent service pre Covid. It has yet to recover.
There is a Christmas Market running the length of Cheltenham’s Promenade this year. My observations were a) none of the stalls were selling anything to do with Christmas b) The traders were very grumpy suggesting that there were insufficient shoppers c) about 20% of the stalls were empty and d) it was raining!
Maybe some of the shoppers were stuck in the bumper to bumper traffic lines clotting the heart of this former Regency Spa town. I went into one large bookshop. The queue to pay for purchases snaked all around the ground floor. I went home!
As we have been poorly with the ‘flu we are running late with our Christmas preparations. However, this afternoon we bought the last Christmas tree in the farmyard. We think it will look great!
