History

Our neighbor loaned us a copy of this book, the history of the settlement of our community of Perrydale, at the end of the Oregon Trail in the Willamette Valley. Tough folks, and the look in their eyes showed it. The childhood mortality rate was so high. What is not given mention is the displacement of the Kalapuyan tribe to reservations in the West as a result. Many of these people are buried two or three miles from us. That’s our history.
