Preparation

This gentleman is a senior medical chap, a professor at a teaching hospital, but he's always working very hard at communal events in the village.  In fact, he and his wife were able to buy their house in the village only on condition that they held a fête in the garden every summer for the villagers.  They do, very successfully.

And this occasion was post-carol service refreshments.  The service was very successful, very communal and very touching.  The vicar, supported by a lay preacher, gave a great "Talk" between several heartily sung carols, after which we had a bit of mulled wine and I managed a few snacks, just to show willing . . .
