Keith the Cook

Although he lives in Michigan, Keith is my Florida swimming buddy. We join the women in swim class, and we stay in the deep end...right where they want us.

He is of Lebanese descent, and every December he and his wife Jan hold an open house and make something called a fatayar. 

The scene and the smells were amazing. 6-7 people bellied up to the kitchen counter, measuring, rolling, stuffing, and crimping shut the lamb-beef pastries. Oh my...they were good, and as an added bonus, Keith sends everyone home with a dozen of them.

They live about 80 miles from our house, but it was worth the drive. On the way home we made a day out of it by stopping at Russell Stovers (chocolate), Cabela's (an outdoor store), JC Penney (department store), Meijer (groceries), and Target (department.) WHEW!
