Stob Coire na Ceannain

Up quite early for a Saturday but got a big chunk of desk work cleared.

M and I took the guys for a walk at Achaderry.

Early afternoon L and I drove to Inverness to see Caley's last home game of the season.

From a Caley view point it did not go as planned. While all goals are good, a lead established just ahead of the half time whistle is really a good time to grab one, This is what Caley did; but only after missing a penalty a few minutes earlier.
Similarly a goal scored just after HT is psychologically a good time to score but this time it was Dundee Uniited. The pundits discussed at length the make shift nature of the United team particularly the defence but it did not manifest itself particularly and I thought some Caley players (one in particular) were having a bad day at the office. In fact ten minutes in I said to L player x does not seem to have his heart in it at all and his body language was that of someone not wanting to risk any bruises ahead of the holidays. Terry Butcher finally replaced him with 5 minutes to go rather than 5 minutes after the start. It is virtually impossible for a new on the park player to get a foot in the game at this stage. The signs were ominous. United had a few break aways and were getting chances and at the other end all Caleys slick passing ended in fumbled attempts or a real lack of inspiration.
Of course United scored in injury time to take the points. Caley must now go to Dingwall, home of local rivals Ross County, next weekend and win on the last day of the season to ensure third place and European football for the first time in their history.

I didn't take a suitable camera to the game and the morning walk was quite dreich. S, our youngest, had his friend A over to play today and after tea time we gave him a run home. Rather lazily I set up this camera on a the timer before we left and I downloaded it on the return. I had hoped a wee triangle of direct sunshine might illuminate the summit while I was away. It didn't happen, or at least not to coincide with the two minute intervals I had set, but the lower slopes of Cruach Innis were lit up quite unusually in one of the shots.

Apologies if you have no interest in football.
