topshop

This used to be the entrance to Topshop on Princes Street in Edinburgh. All  Topshop stores were closed during  the pandemic, and this building is apparently going to be redeveloped to house a luxury hotel. As you can see, some residents have already moved in, using a new type of shelter which I've seen on the streets of Edinburgh. Despite this, and the slight rise in ambient temperatures over the weekend, its not good that people are sleeping on the streets in winter, and even worse that they are passed by shoppers clutching bags bulging with luxury purchases.

I had less than 24 hours in Edinburgh, and as usual, Princes Street was my least favourite part of it. I liked my early morning walk on the beach with Luke and Otter and our lunchtime pizza picnic with Laura in Princes Street Gardens. Laura is heading back to the US next week for a month so it was good to see her again.

In the afternoon, Luke and I walked over the Meadows to his work at agile. I met Jack, the owner, his Mum, and Marcus, who works with Luke, and had a peek at the kitchen and Jack's impressive library of cookbooks, and then headed back out for a wander along the Water of Leith and into the city as it grew dark and all the Christmas lights came on. Somehow I have walked almost 10 miles today!

Back on the bus to Dumfries tonight, and home, where D and Jess were pleased to see me :-)
