Tui...

………………...……a Native Bird of NZ

This handsome Tui is perched on a stem of the flax bush, surrounded by flax flowers which provide food for this nectar loving bird.

In days gone by they were often called ‘The Parson Bird’ because of the prominent tuft of white feathers.

Extra photo - Tui with the beak buried deep in the flower supping on nectar.

Thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s impressive cloud formations above the local estuary. Today, the sky was bland and uninteresting!
