Sunset chill
A busy but satisfying day. After some early morning report writing, I met up with Kathryn at Peterborough Museum. We were there to meet the Curator of Art and Community Engagement, to discuss the possibility of producing an exhibition about the Langdyke Trust next spring. The room that's been offered to us was beautiful - oval with period features and well-placed at the top of the staircase, though K and I agreed that we would have to produce something eye-catching to encourage people to enter. We'll also be able to hang some of my photographs in their Coffee Shop, and have a rolling slide show on the TV monitor there.
After lunch Pete and I got on with defrosting the freezer - it was so cold that we were able to put all the contents outside without worrying about them thawing. We found quite a few things past their sell by date, some of which will be put out for garden birds and foxes. But now it's looking all tidy and we have room for Christmas goodies. And I was able to do a good bit more report writing while we were waiting for the last of the ice to thaw!
I sneaked out for another walk to Thorpe Meadows at dusk. I remembered a hat but forgot my gloves so ended up with very chilly hands! The ice of the Rowing Lake is now over an inch thick, and there is a thin layer of ice on the slow flowing, sheltered water of the main river. It was very clear with beautiful views of Jupiter and Mars - the intensity of the afterglow was intense, with the willows lit up in deep orange as the light faded..
