Suet-loving Starlings

Since I introduced suet pellets to the food on offer at our feeding stations, starlings have upped their numbers. I love the sharpness of their beaks and equally sharp feather markings. I love their varied calls. And I love how they happily mix with other breeds of bird. The only quarrels I observed were between two male blackbirds. 

Will you look at that blue sky?! What a joy. It was still freezing out of the sun, but some frost melted, leaving a hard line that matched the shadow across the lawn. I also picked another handful of raspberries that had thawed! Crazy! In mid-December!! I think I'll throw them in with tonight's fruit crumble.
