A sad day

A very quiet day, with neither of us feeling at our best emotionally. We both slept badly and haven’t been able to concentrate all day because a friend of ours, a lovely chap from our church, is going through the valley of the shadow, with his wife keeping vigil by his bedside at the local hospice.

This afternoon I printed off some cards and Smithers baked a cake, and this is the slice he brought me with a cup of tea. He’s now making our supper, and afterwards we will watch the Carols by Candlelight service which is being live streamed from All Saints’ Church.
