Diary of an Edinburgher

Frosty!

I spent a fair bit of time on the phone today. Travel insurance is so fraught when you’re old (and planning lots of holidays). I don’t remember being this much bothered by it in years gone by - maybe we were a bit naive (and a bit lucky)…

Very very cold again (-4°) today, but absolutely gorgeous, with NO wind. Archie and I took a walk round the Meadows. I fiddled around with holding the phone upside down to try and get the frosty grass, as seen in Instagram. I was bend double and couldn’t see a thing, but Archie was very patient.

We walked over the crispy crunchy grass, Archie rubbing his beard in the snow as we went along. I had a coffee at the caravan - their seats were still too icy to sit on, but the bench that had been in the sun all morning was OK.

Back home and I had a loooonnnggg phone call from a travel insurance company that I’d put some details into. Actually, that’s a good idea for them to follow up any enquiries. It’s better to actually speak to someone. I’ve found out they’re really only interested in medical conditions in the last five (or sometimes two) years. Or what medication you’re on for ongoing stuff. I will check out another company tomorrow, so that I can compare.

JR went into town for lunch with some ex-colleagues, and then we popped over to see Hazel in the evening. She’s off to Berlin in a couple of days. We had delicious nibbles, including Waitrose lightly crumbed king prawns (our favourite) and plenty of wine.

There was NO swimming today. I’ve given up on it, and will wait till our local gym opens, which has been imminent for months, and MUST be very soon…
