Baby It’s Cold Outside

According to what I read elsewhere, the coldest place in England last night was only a couple of miles from here. I can well believe it, as the car was showing it was -7.5C when I went to Barrow this morning. Even in the middle of the day, the highest temperature I saw was Zero!
Any thoughts of cutting back on the central heating have gone right out of the window. We are both suffering from the dreaded lurgy and the freezing cold air outside is not helping. All we can do is keep as warm as possible for now and worry about paying the gas bill later.
Not feeling at all Christmassy at the moment. The tree and decorations are still in the loft and the few cards we have received are just in a pile on the kitchen worktop. Hopefully we will feel up to doing something during the course of the week.
Luckily, it hasn’t snowed again but the continuing cold means we are getting a lot of frost. A bit of a pain when you want to go out in the car, but I do like the patterns it makes on the plants and shrubs in the garden. Having said that, I won’t be sorry to see the back of this extreme cold. The weather forecast promises warm air heading up from Africa this weekend. I wouldn’t even object to a bit of rain - at least that means the temperatures are above freezing!
