Cheers ma Dears...
Woke up to a very pretty covering of snow this morning. Not deep but enough to look very beautiful against the blue sky. If I could have been bothered to get the big camera out I could have shown you :-) Another day maybe.
David and Lola went for a morning walk on the moor and met up with Tom and Veronica and their Golden Girl Milly. Milly's not been waking on the moor over the warmer month as ticks really love her but now the ticks are hibernating Lola and Milly can romp together on the moor. Snow pic of Lola in extras. I didn't collaborate on this pic so not using it as my blip.
While we were having lunch the new set of lights for the Christmas tree finally arrived. Yay! Now we can get the tree finished and the Christmas decs will be done.
Oh wait, just remembered I've ordered some bunting for the garden room and a garland for the bannister. Well once they arrive the decorating will be done! lol
After lunch D and I went to the living room and as you can see from my blip, I helped him decorate the tree. Well someone had to say left a bit, right a bit, actually it looked better where you first placed it. ;-))
Tree done, I crocheted some squares for my current blanket project (this one's for the garden room) whilst planning Sunday dinner. Chinese takeaway was decided upon. Discovered our go to Chinese takeaway is temporarily closed due to the high cost of fuel. It's also a restaurant so they are obviously feeling the pinch. Such a shame :-( In the end we had sausage and chips! But nice butcher's sausages and home made oven chips so not all bad :D
Back to the living room to watch Strictly and enjoy the first real fire of the winter. Relieved to see the smoke went up the chimney (still have nightmares about the first time we lit the fire after moving here!)
Watched Casino Royale (for the millionth time) and whilst David has snoozed in the warmth of the fire, I have been trying to finalise my menu for friends coming on 29th.
At the moment I am thinking the starter will be a pick n mix affair of baked camembert with toasted sourdough bread, olives, hummus, chicken liver pate, sundried tomatoes, balsamic and olive oil and pickles. Main will either be slow cooked Beef Bourguignon (made the day before to save hassle) with D's creamy mash potatoes and roasted broccoli, or Hungarian goulash (also slow cooked the day before) with brown and wild rice, and toffee apple crumble and fresh fruit platter for dessert.
Must remember to get my Christmas meat order to the butcher before Friday!
Wee Tree :-))
