It needs no more words from me. Rose-red city, half as old as time. One of the wonders of the world.

I made it. All 10k plus. I was totally shattered when I got back to the hotel but it was a dream come true.

The photo is of the Treasury, the most famous landmark, but this gives only the tiniest fraction of an idea of the beauty of this magnificent place.

We walked round such quiet and peaceful parts of the site, taking tea with a Bedouin who lives in one of the caves. We saw a rare blue lizard. Ahmad, our guide, asked us to set off at 7.30. We had the first and most famous section to ourselves.
