A busy Saturday

I wrote a list of jobs at the beginning day and have managed just over half of them. We like home made Christmas cake, but have run out of time to make one this year.  However I found a jar of mincemeat from last year as I cleared out one of the cupboards and this recipe in St Delia's Christmas book.  I think I can qualify as the "really harassed" in the recipe description so decided to give it a go.  It smells lovely, but was slightly over-cooked.  So I will cheat and give it a trim before icing it.
We are going to be home alone this Christmas as the girls are both with their other families this year, so a good time to try new things. Thinking about pudding options now.
