Forces of Nature and Man-made Edifices

Another cold, frosty, but dry day.
This morning  we travelled to London by train to attend a Christmas lunch with friends from our Livery Company, in Cutlers' Hall.
First, though, Martin and I went to the National Gallery to see the Winslow Homer:Force of Nature  exhibition which is running there until 8th January 2023, which we thought  was very good. See this link: Winslow Homer: Force of Nature Exhibition
Homer (1836-1910) although unknown to us, was a great American realist painter who lived through, and captured in his paintings, important moments in American history. These included the American Civil  War and the abolition  of slavery. Later, he travelled to England, where he stayed in Cullercoats on the NE coast and painted scenes of the  heroic and resilient people whose livelihoods depended on the sea. He also spent time in the Bahamas,  Cuba and Bermuda where he painted the islands' turquoise seas and lush vegetation, but also showed the hard lives  of their Black inhabitants.  His seascapes and pictures of people were magnificent. It is really worthy of a visit.

My blips were taken at about 4.30pm, on our way home, as we crossed the Thames via  the Millennium Bridge. The main blip is looking East, and includes the Shard and Tower Bridge, while the extra is looking West and includes One Blackfriars (AKA The Vase or The Beer Gut) and the  OXO Tower.
