Preparing the way

Friday 9th December 2022

A full day off today and much needed. SueT123 came over. It was a very frosty morning and the sun was beautiful. We set off to Yarrow Valley Country Park but quickly got into a hail storm. We had a change of plan and went to Martin Mere so that we had access to the hides and cafe.

A lot of the lakes were frozen. These guys were breaking a channel through the ice so that the children can visit Santa on the island (red hut) over the weekend. In the middle the ice was quite thick, even though they had created the same channel yesterday so it should have been thinner than the rest of the lake. It has been so cold today and the frost isn't going. I think they will be breaking through again tomorrow. I hope the children get to see Santa. 

We had a lovely hot lunch in the cafe as well as a good walk.  Once we got back to mine I took Sue down to see our Advent Windows.
