Mixed emotions
Today was a day of emotions...firstly I was just too late to save a baby tortoise from being hit by a car. It was crossing the road but by the time I stopped the car to move it to the bush, a car had sped by and hit it. Sadly it was too badly injured to survive. I was devastated.....why must motorists speed through our village where signs are prominent asking people to slow down.
Then my high - meeting Penni at the airport. How special was that. Non stop chatting, and we enjoyed a swim in the pool this evening with a glass of chilled wine. The temperature today went up to 36 deg C.
Soon after we arrived back home form the airport this afternoon I went to a memorial service for a long time resident who died recently. His daughter and family arrived from the UK and arranged the memorial in his garden overlooking the sea.. I miss meeting up with him and his two Labradors on the common - they loved playing with Coda. RIP Aubrey
Penni's request for boerewors rolls for supper was an easy one..how we S Africans love our boerewors.
An early night for us all - the temperature is cooler thank goodness.
Oh, and our first snake for the summer made an appearance this morning - too quick for a photo unfortunately.
