McDonald Road Stop (not on McDonald Road)

Andrew McDonald was born in Penicuik and came to Edinburgh in 1852 as an apprentice to a tailor; in 1875 he opened his own tailoring establishment. A Member of the Company of Merchants of the City of Edinburgh from 1867, he served as Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer and from 1888 to 1890, Master. He was Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh from 1894 to 1897; at the close of this office he was knighted.
