A sign
The first really cold day this winter, and we had to take the van to the garage on the outskirts Alnwick to have the tyre valve replaced. I'd arranged to meet Frank and Rena at their house in Alnwick while the work was being carried out. Whilst walking there we were assaulted by rain, sleet and snow in no particular order! Brrr!
Lovely to see them again, and there was a lot to catch-up on - much of it about the trials and tribulations of moving house, as they are also trying to relocate - and we stayed longer than intended before walking back to pick up the van. Called in at the supermarket for a couple of things on the way there.
Home for a very late lunch, and time for a few chores before yoga. On the way there the pavements were covered by slush, so it was safer to walk along the road. Walking back was much more 'interesting'! The road hadn't been gritted, so road and pavements were covered in sheet ice. Treacherous!
Stopped briefly on the way for a quick Blip. This year the town's Christmas tree is situated several metres to the left of where it usually stands. (In fact several nice rose bushes were dug up to allow it to go there.) It looks lovely, but it's been placed directly behind a road sign! In the Blip you can just about see what it is, but from the centre of the town it looks as though there's a rectangular hollow through the middle of the tree!
