Crossing the Border

To the right was the way to go this morning when we got to the Canada/USA border.
We chose a border crossing with no queue and minimal bureaucracy, although for whatever reason, I was fingerprinted on all ten fingers and had a mug shot taken, while His Lordship was allowed in scot free. I must have looked the sort of alien who would pose a threat to the US.

The custom men bedecked with all sorts of frightening paraphernalia and bullet proof vests looked so severe, that you felt that for the smallest infringement of any rules, they could clap cuffs on you and send you to Guantanamo Bay.
I wonder if in training they are told never to smile under any circumstances.

I was sorry to leave Canada behind, and Berkeleyblipper was even sorrier to have left an IPad behind! Fortunately the hotel will forward it to her home.

It was our first visit to that vast country, and we were made to feel very welcome. It would have been interesting to have had time to explore the hinterland of the Rockies, but Vancouver, where mountains and sea meet, was ideal for our short stay in the area.
The fact that the sun shone out of a deep blue sky everyday was an added bonus, but we know that with so much green around we were lucky not to have had some rain.

We have now checked into a hotel in Bellingham, with a bedroom containing two beds so wide that we may need a map to navigate out of them in the morning.
But before then, we are visiting LocalFoodLover and Philipo and having a blip meet over dinner with them. I hope His Lordship and Oilman don't feel left out of the conversation.
