Caught snoozing

We went to Sun Lane Nature Reserve for a change this morning.  It was wonderfully crisp and there were plenty of birds about including my first redwings of the season.  This tree sparrow was only a couple of metres away and had no intention of moving from its warm spot, eyes opening and closing as it snoozed.

This afternoon, I headed off on a wildlife adventure (once Rich brought the van keys home!)  The adventure began early than expected with the road closed at Ribblehead down to Hawes.

In minus two degrees, taking the steep road into Dent and then up the Old Coal Road in the dark wasn't ideal but it was a good test for Beryl - and my heart (although I think I would have preferred cycling up it, marginally!)

Hunkered down in only a few less layers of clothes and added my mountain hat, ready for at least minus four.
