Frosty Shore
My first idea for a title was "Frosty Beach" but this water's edge is definitely not a beach, more a stretch of sandy mud.
On the far side of the lake, still in sunlight, is the town of Kramfors. I'm on a footpath leading around the water and into that town. Just behind me is the railway, a building suppliers, a Kia workshop and salesroom, and a big charity shop. Our car is in the workshop getting the satnav fixed and Janet is in the charity shop, doing a little shopping. I'm out for a short walk before it gets dark, checking out the ice and taking pictures.
The ice is forming nicely but still nowhere near strong enough to walk or skate on. The ice nearest this shore is slightly older and was there when it snowed, so it's white. A little further out the ice is snow free because it formed after the last snowfall. Just to my right, out of the picture, there's a shrinking area of open water. As long as it stays cold the ice will soon be thick enough for skaters, skiers, and snow mobiles. The temperatures are below zero for the next 10 days and there seems to be quite a bit of snow headed our way too. Soon the fun begins!
As we drove home from the workshop the satnav worked for the first km then zoomed off and claimed we were driving through the forest when we definitely weren't. We'll be back in Kramfors again, at the workshop for another try soon.
