A  cold day from start to finish, but lovely and clear with sunshine and blue sky to warm the soul. I had an early morning walk and saw plenty of birds trying to catch a little of the sun's warmth at the very top of trees. A wren hopping about the hedgerow like a mouse right next to me. A field of fieldfares.

It was the turn of Sarah and Chris to leave today, catching the train back south. Sad to see them go. I didn't linger in town, except to collect my new glasses from the opticians and to visit the post office.

I had a nice face time call with Luke later on - it's his birthday today :-)

The house feels quiet now, with just the two of us.
