CASTLE GATE

Not much remains of the Castle in Kirkbymoorside . . . literally Church by the Moors. Here is part of the gateway, but it is likely that the rest of the Castle was built from timber, around 1200. Home of the Stuteville family, owners of the manor of Kirkbymoorside, there is still evidence of the remains of their moated manor house site on Vivers Hill, overlooking the church and centre of the village.
Certainly on the cool side at the moment . . . stay warm everyone.
