Trinidad

We found a nice courtyard café for a light breakfast and then hit the sights of Trinidad – climbing the tower in the Museo de la Lucha Contra Bandidos and having a look at all the (actually pretty cool) displays of enlarged grainy photos and bullet-riddled ordnance, walking up the hill to the ruins of the monastery and then back down to the Museo Romantico, a nineteenth century plantation owner's palacio, stuffed with mahogany furniture and fine glass and china (not to mention an inordinate number of spittoons.) Then we did some excursion research and ended up booking a catamaran trip out to the reef tomorrow so that I can l live my best Duran Duran life for the day… Late on we went back to the Café Don Pepe for pre-dinner coffee (me) and mojitos (Beck) before finding a nice restaurant (a big, wooden, barn-like interior, 5-piece band and what appeared to be a rather worrying selection of chains and manacles adorning the walls) for some decent fried things and tacos…
