A childhood memory.

We were in Orange today (see isbi’s blip).
My father was a specialist thoracic physician but in his spare time he was the track doctor for motor racing in the state of NSW from about 1950 to 1965 which meant I was regularly taken to the racing at Bathurst, Warwick Farm, Mt Druitt or Orange (which only operated up to 1961).
The old track was a public road and still is, enclosing the grounds of the Bloomfield Psychiatric Hospital. The sign in the blip is at the righthander at the end of the main straight. The extras are of Bloomfield Rd as it is today at the southern end of the track and what was the pit area with a sign inaccurately recording the years of Jack’s world championships (should be 1959, ‘60 and ‘66).
It was here in early 1960 as a 9yo, I shook the great man’s hand (he was there handing out the trophies for the day). All pretty useless trivia, really!
