Someone's Been Sitting...
..in MY chair!
Maggie here...
You are not going to believe THIS one...The woman goes walking, eh, and runs into people and then gets talking and says, "Why not drop in sometime when you are passing by?" Like, OK, it's all very nice to have someone drop in - hopefully when the house is in order and there is coffee on hand, but no-one said "Why not drop in sometime and bring your two hyperactive dogs?"
Well, you guessed it..The woman had set up the Christmas tree in the living room, which meant that my whole living space was in chaos..As if a tree in the living room was not bad enough, (I am not allowed to touch trees in the living room, which makes for some tense family interactions) the woman had moved the furniture all around and pulled my rug further back from the fire; my afghans and cushions had been tossed into the hall to be replaced with more Christmassy ones and who drops by into this mess? A lady with TWO DOGS! A total stranger.. Seems she wants to see the woman's quilts? ...Now? Geez.
I was not prepared. To be fair, the woman was not either but out came the big smiles and the "Come On In!" and the "Oh..two little dogs? SOOO cute! So adorable..Such happy little pups..See how they dance and run and jump and lick!"
I was not amused...Dogs don't scare me, but then they are usually outdoors and I am not! I am looking at them out the window...but these ones were in my house! When their owner said.."Oh you have a cat? The dogs LOVE cats..." I knew I was in trouble! Yeah sure...Of course..dogs just LOVE cats.. to eat maybe!
I took off like a shot, tore up the stairs and hid under the woman's bed...
But drat...The quilts are kept in her bedroom! And sure enough, up they came, dogs and all..Like, who let the dogs out? They were on a leash last time I looked...Those little cat-hunters KNEW I was under the bed and were doing their best to crawl under to get me..I had no choice but to make a run for it, right through the two of them, back down the stairs and down into the basement..I ran for my life...nearly had a heart attack...
After they all finally left, I felt safe enough to emerge from hiding..only to discover that.... imagine the nerve...someone had been sitting in MY chair! My private chair - the one that is not too hard, and not too soft..just right. MINE! Three guesses who...I just knew who, and the woman even took photos to prove it..
Methinks we need some new house rules around here...No dogs allowed...at least not off-leash! This house is supposed to be my castle..but it seems it needs a moat!
PS: The woman thought the lady was lovely and that the dogs were ever so cute...but she did seem to understand the trauma I had been put through and was very generous that evening with the treats and petting. And, hallelujah, I have my chair back..
