Flossmo

Root cause

It was a lovely morning as we drove down to Alton, with the sun shining down on the fields. Unfortunately my mind was not on photography. I was fighting the apprehension of having my back molar out.

The dentist told me it needed to come out in August. Ever since I have found a reason not to do it. But finally, a couple of weeks ago, I decided the time had come; I had a niggling pain and, anyway, it was a bit loose. Today was the appointed day.

In the end it wasn't as bad as expected. The worst bit by far was the injection of the anaesthetic - I nearly hit the ceiling. The tooth itself came out without much fuss. The dentist then spent some time cleaning the cavity but I felt little of it. Afterwards he showed me the tooth - it was a bit of a mess with a broken root and discolouration from an underlying infection. It definitely needed to come out.  I was a bit wobbly on leaving and glad Mr Flossmo had provided a chauffeuring service.

Back home I had some soup and then dived under the duvet where I slept soundly for a couple of hours or more. The anaesthetic has now worn off but there is only a little discomfort, although I did self-medicate with paracetamol and ibuprofen when I got up so perhaps that has helped. Eating is going to be a bit of a palaver but the worst is over.

The photograph is a quickie looking over my back hedge. The blue sky today did help to make the day feel a little less gloomy.
