The big day
Independence Day of Finland (Finnish: itsenäisyyspäivä) is held on 6 December to celebrate Finland's declaration of independence from the Russian Empire in 1917.
During the day there are many ceremonies. In the evening, after three years break for the coronavirus pandemic, Presidential Independence Day reception for the invented guests is held at the Presidential Palace again. This event, known informally also as Linnanjuhlat ("the Castle Ball"), is broadcast on national television and has been a perennial favourite of the viewing public.
We detected this punch for the Day, called "Castle punch", in the grocery shop in the morning and of course had to buy it. On the label of it you can see the picture of the Presidential Palace. Interesting to taste the punch that the invited guests in the Presidential Palace are offered;) Must be something very special. We also bought pastries coloured with Finnish blue and white. We certainly don't skip the live television broadcast, at least we watch it partly. Actually we are not very nationalistic, but of course independence is one of the most important thing in the whole world. Especially these days. So, the Finnish people are celebrating today.
In Extra you can see a less festive thing, the moped of mine about which I've been so "foaming" about last days. The smallness is a bit difficult to see in the picture, but it's about 1 meter long and high. My legs, my treasure.
