It makes a very pleasant start to the week if you have a coffee meeting first thing in town, although I found it hard to believe how busy it was at 9:30am.
No longer is it possible to escape the tourists by beating them into town. We seem to be back almost to Festival numbers. It was nasty weather too - cold and damp with heavy showers of rain, the dark clouds hovering menacingly overhead.

However it was however warm and cheery inside the Ivy on the Square. It was so busy that we were up a daunting flight of stairs to the top deck. I have developed a ‘thing’ about going down stairs after my mishap in May but I suppose it is reassuring that we both looked to the staff as though it was not going to be any problem…..and luckily it wasn’t.

Remembering the palaver last month with the late arrival of our poached eggs, we stuck to toast and marmalade this time. Everything arrived on cue with no hitches which meant we had to pay for it!

I missed a bus going home and so walked back through puddles of water and visitors strung out enjoying their Christmas saunter in the rain. I didn’t take my blood pressure when I arrived. Best not to know!
