Is that you CJ?

I took Mr. T to see the Pen Swan sitting on her nest this evening - hoping that either, or both, of two things had happened:-

1. The cygnets had hatched, and
2. CJ had returned.

My friend in whose hedge Pen is nesting was in his garden and told us that the Cob swan that I had so hoped was CJ was in fact a young cygnet from last year trying to have his way with the Pen as CJ has still not returned. Friend said that CJ and his lovely Pen mate would have taken it in turns on the nest and that CJ could be most aggressive at this time. Unlike this young buck cob who was just gliding up and down the canal waiting his chance to pounce on the lady. Apparently he will have nothing to do with the offspring of our pen and would most likely kill them before he has his way with her.

Oooh dear, I can feel tears welling up right now. However, on a brighter note....
