Life's Little Moments

Hanging Out

Chickadees are grab-n-go birds - they never stay on the feeders any longer than it takes to grab a seed.  Then they either fly off somewhere to open and eat the seed or they cache it in a crevice, usually tree bark.  Sometimes the choice of a place to cache their treasure doesn't make much sense.  As in this case, in a small rip in the cloth of our grill cover.  As I crouched not 5 feet away, this little 'dee hung upside down and went through all sorts of acrobatics trying to cram a seed into the tear.  He finally flew off into the woods with his treasure.  But not before thoroughly entertaining this photographer.

Had a great FT chat with mom and dad this morning, and Hubs had a good visit with his mom.  Then, we loaded Jax into the car and went out to get our tree.  We always go to the same place because they sell local trees that are always freshly cut.  They are a bit more expensive but definitely worth it, in my opinion.  We came home with a 7-foot Frazier Fir on the top of the car and a very happy brindle dog in the back seat (yes, he got to greet lots of people).

I'm doing my holiday shopping online this year - I can't face the thought of shopping crowds in the stores.  And I can get everything shipped which is a bonus as it also saves a trip to the post office (something to be avoided this time of year).  Racing full tilt towards Christmas now...

I think dark with nuts today...
