Freddie

In the early days of my blipping (2012) I exchanged messages with some young people in NZ who took care of rescue dogs. (The concept of 'rescue' was new to me at the time.) Among the larger dogs there was the little furry Freddie, who one day got pesticide in his coat, licked it, and was ill for weeks. He survived, though.

I was much younger then, and I found out what it would cost to have a small dog flown from NZ to Finland. I was serious but it could still not be realised - we did not know each other, and the owner was much too young.

But every time I eat a kiwi fruit I think of little Freddie, who at one time had to struggle for his life due to pesticides.
