The wind was incredibly strong today, so much so that I was actually blown over while kneeling down in the trench.
I also made a terrifying discovery: I had been digging a trench up against the other side of the cross-wall to the right of the castle, at a certain level, the earth crumbled away and a small void was revealed. I climbed over the fence to have a look at this side of the wall, to discover that the ground beneath the wall had been completely eroded and had fallen onto the beach, 4 or 5 m below.
Yes, I immediately stopped digging and backfilled the end of the trench!
A long drive home, later, where my lovely Meles was ready with a bottle (or two) of beer. Long hot bath and bed to follow :)))
