Worcester

Lorna Lloyd lived in Malvern, Worcestershire when she wrote her Diary of the war. hazelh previously blipped the diary in full in the LornaL journal. It is now available as a podcast series with Lorna's great-great niece playing her great-great aunt. 

Malvern is about 10 miles away from the county town of Worcester, the home town of Edward Elgar. The famous composer is commemorated in this statue next to Cathedral Square. (Elgar later lived in Malvern, where he died in 1934. Whether his path ever crossed with that of the Lloyd family, we do not know. Find out more about Elgar in his Wikipedia entry.) 

We know that Lorna visited Worcester from time to time from the entries that she made in her diary on September 14th 1939 and October 1st 1939. The first is included in Episode 2 of our podcast series of the Diary of the war, and the second in Episode 3.
