The i360 on the seafront in Brighton.

This was built as a vertical "replacement" for the wrecked West Pier nearby.

I did go on this not long after it opened (on a reduced ticket from
Travelzoo). It's currently £19.95 or £25 with a glass of fizz. 

Years ago I was working in an office with a great view across the Thames to where the the London Eye was being built.  The much awaited elevation  was halted at 45 degrees whilst a nearby unexploded bomb was investigated. Eventually my colleagues and I went on it - great views of course - I have to say significantly better than the i360, half of the view being sea!
